10/28 SANTIAGO FIRE : 65% Contained

The Santiago Fire that has burned 28,000 acres is now 65% contained with full containment expected sometime by the end of the week. The Orange County Fire Authority is beginning the process of allowing residents back to their homes, but requesting they not go to other areas of the canyons. All schools except Silverado Elementary School and Trabuco Elementary School will be open (Saddleback Unified has a scheduled student free staff development day with students returning Tuesday).
The following roads remain closed:
• Santiago Canyon road south of the 241 Toll Road to Live Oak Canyon Road
• All of Live Oak Canyon Road
• All of Trabuco Canyon Road
• Plano Trabuco road north of Robinson Ranch Road (northbound only)
