“New Age” connected PEAK Charter School withdraws OUSD Charter petition
The PEAK Charter school leaders have withdrawn their petition for a charter school in Orange Unified. The withdrawal comes after postponing a scheduled OUSD Public Hearing on the petition.
After being rejected by the Brea-Orlinda Unified School District, the PEAK Charter school group then filed a petition with Orange Unified to open a charter school. In December, Orange Net News reported that PEAK Charter school leaders included two (who gave City of Orange addresses on their BOUSD application) with connections to a “new age” internet business site and a consultant from a controversial San Diego charter school leader (see link below).
One of the public reasons the BOUSD School Board rejected the PEAK Charter was the group did not have a facility for the school. Reports are that leaders of the proposed PEAK Charter are now saying that OUSD was not interested in leasing one of the district’s closed schools to the group, so they have withdrawn their petition. OUSD reportedly has denied that the petition got to the point of discussing facilities.
The PEAK Charter website has not been updated since December of last year and its Facebook not since November of last year.
