Andrea Yamasaki will face ousted Greg Salas
OUSTED GREG SALAS FILES FOR OUSD AREA 1 TRUSTEE ELECTION
Ousted appointee Greg Salas has filed for the Orange Unified Area 1 Trustee seat.  Listing his occupation as " Orange County Businessman/Parent"  Salas will face Andrea Yamasaki in the vote-by-mail March 1, 2016 election.

Salas was ousted from his appointment to the OUSD Board by petition by thousands  of  voters from across Orange Unified to nullify his surprise appointment.

Salas had no interest in being on the OUSD Board after moving into the district only 2 years ago. His children did not attend OUSD schools, and he admitted he had never been to an OUSD school. Despite his lack of knowledge of local schools,  issues, and no involvement in the local community- Salas was appointed in a controversial vote by the OUSD Board on September 21, 2015.

Thirty-eight days later and the community had successfully ousted Salas.

In a hastily called Special Meeting a week after the Salas appointment, Surridge admitted he self appointed himself to actively go out and recruit someone to appoint to the vacant seat based on politics.

Surridge eventually recruited his friend Salas and was able to guarantee  the Salas appointed despite Salas having no qualifications as evident by his hastily hand written Candidate Information Sheet for the OUSD Trustee appointment process.

Widespread community outrage over the Salas appointment-driven in part by the fact Salas was clearly the least qualified of the huge pool of candidates- intensified after Surridge admitted he personally had recruited Salas for the appointment to the OUSD Board as a political appointment.

That admission by Surridge of his recruiting the unqualified Salas and the fact that Surridge was able to get his allies on the OUSD Board to appoint the unqualified Salas, further enraged voters across Greater Orange and led to the ultimate ouster of Salas from his appointment as thousands of Greater Orange signed and filed thousands of petition signatures ( over 134% more than the required amount) within 30 days of the Salas appointment.  With Salas ousted- an election was called for March of 2016.

Now Salas has filed to run in that election.

Salas will face long time Anaheim Hills resident and community leader Andrea Yamasaki.  A decades long community volunteer from Anaheim Hills schools to civic organizations, Yamasaki has experience in business, and leadership roles and experience in numerous OUSD schools, OUSD committees, and civic organizations.  To see Andrea Yamasaki Candidate Information Sheet click on:

Yamasaki was the only candidate that had dozens of supporters speak on her behalf at the September 21, 2015 OUSD Board Meeting. Those supporters were from across the Greater Orange Community.

The Surridge opposition to Yamasaki at the September 21, 2015 shocked the Anaheim Hills  and the Greater Orange communitie and galvinized the community-wide petition drive to oust Salas.

    Comments:
Had Mr. Salas not filed he would have saved the District the expense of an election. How can he even claim to be a Republican when he is so willing to waste our taxpayer money after being so resoundingly removed from office? Sickening.
